IH Newcastle is one of 160 language schools around the world that make up the IH World Organization. One of the largest networks of language schools in the world!
The School
IH Newcastle is an English language school and 'Centre of Excellence' situated in one of the most student-friendly cities in Europe!
Located in large Victorian listed premises in the very centre of Newcastle, close to all major transport links and only 5 minutes' walk from our student apartments - International House Newcastle is in the perfect location.
Our building
International House Newcastle moved to its current premises in 2010, in the centre of the lively university city of Newcastle upon Tyne. The school is a Grade I and II listed building and has 16 classrooms plus a spacious students' room/café. There is also a computer suite for the Personal Study Programme (PSP) and free wi-fi throughout the building. Lift access is available to all floors.
The premises were rated 'excellent' by British Council and EAQUALS.
Reception
Our reception is on the first floor, opposite the Students' Room. The team will help you settle in and make the most of your time in Newcastle. We are here to help you, so please ask us any questions you might have and we’ll do our best to find a solution.

Classes
We have 16 classrooms, in addition to the PSP suite (see below). Our general class size is 12 students maximum (8 students on average).
Lessons
Each lesson is 55 minutes long (2-'hour' lessons include a 10-minute break).
Timetable
Actual timetable will depend on student's level, course and the number of lessons booked.
Lessons will be scheduled between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
EARLY TIMETABLE: 9am-11am then 1pm-3pm or
LATE TIMETABLE: 11am-1pm then 3pm-5pm
Plus the PSP hour(s) if applicable. Your timetable will be confirmed after your day one placement test.
The Students' Room is the ideal place to relax between classes, study, or meet friends for lunch. It's open between 8.30am and 5pm and is also used for evening events and even concerts!
Personal Study Programme (PSP) suite
In our Personal Study Programme (PSP) suite, students can concentrate on:
Individual programmes for work
Examinations
Vocabulary for personal interests
Extra listening or speaking practice
The ratio of students to teachers in PSP is usually 6:1.
