These Newcastle Neighbourhoods Are Amazing—Check Them Out!

Newcastle isn’t just a great study destination—it’s a vibrant, walkable city with lots of cool neighbourhoods to explore during your free time.


Whether you're staying with one of our friendly hosts in the city, or just looking for cool areas to go for a walk, here are a few of our favourites that students love:


Jesmond

Trendy and leafy, Jesmond is one of the city’s most popular student areas. Grab a coffee on Acorn Road, chill in Jesmond Dene (a beautiful park with waterfalls), or enjoy the buzzing bar scene at night.



Ouseburn

Newcastle’s creative quarter! Expect colourful street art, quirky bars, live music, and cool spots like The Biscuit Factory and Ouseburn Farm. It’s perfect for a relaxed afternoon with friends.

Peaceful, affordable and student-friendly. Heaton Park is great for picnics, and you’ll find independent cafés and thrift shops along Chillingham Road.


Quayside

The city’s iconic riverside area with amazing views and modern architecture. Visit the BALTIC art centre, cross the Millennium Bridge, and try local food at the Sunday market.


All these neighbourhoods are easy to access from our school — by Metro, bus, or on foot! Get ready to explore like a local!
