IELTS Success at IH Newcastle

We’re pleased to share positive progress from our IELTS programme at International House Newcastle. Many students have recently achieved the scores they were aiming for, which reflects the strength of our focused preparation, experienced teaching team, and personalised support.

Our student Ceren, from Turkey, achieved her desired IELTS score even before she completed her course at IH Newcastle! She is off to start Uni in September 2025!!

All our IELTS teachers are specifically trained in the exam and regularly attend the latest seminars to stay up to date with any changes. This ensures students benefit from lessons that are accurate, relevant, and full of practical strategies to help them succeed.

Our IELTS classes are designed for students who already have the required level of English, so class time can be fully dedicated to developing exam techniques, strategies, and test familiarity. Alongside group lessons, every IELTS student also receives a one-hour daily session in our Personal Study Programme (PSP) with their teacher. This time allows them to concentrate on areas of individual difficulty—whether that’s writing, listening skills, or spelling.

For students who are not yet ready to join the full IELTS class, we offer a clear pathway. Learners at A2 or A2+ level can begin exploring the exam format in their PSP sessions while continuing to build their general English. This means they can progress confidently when the time is right.

Angela, from Switzerland, completed her General English course achieving level C2 (Proficiency), whilst Nawaf (Saudi Arabia) took General English classes + IELTS path before moving to our dedicated Academic/IELTS classes.

Our communicative, student-centred teaching style is also a key part of what makes our IELTS classes effective. Academic English doesn’t have to be dry—our lessons encourage idea-sharing, collaboration, and real engagement with the language. We help students understand that IELTS is about formal, accurate English, and we give them the tools to use it with confidence.

Well done to all of our recent IELTS students—and to our dedicated teachers—for another great term of progress and achievement!
