2019 Examination Details

International House Newcastle is an authorised open examination centre for Cambridge Assessment English

Cambridge examinations are recognised by many educational institutions and employers worldwide.

At International House Newcastle we offer the following examinations:

  • Cambridge C2 Proficiency (CPE) 
  • Cambridge C1 Advanced (CAE) 
  • Cambridge B2 First (FCE) 
  • Cambridge B1 Preliminary (PET) - available only for group bookings of 5+, subject to dates. Please email info@ihnewcastle.com
  • Cambridge A2 Key (KET) - available only for group bookings of 5+, subject to dates. Please email info@ihnewcastle.com

The key dates for the written/listening parts of the Cambridge English exams are set out below. Please note that the speaking exam will take place on a different day, usually during the week before the other papers. Candidates must be available on both examination days. All candidates will be informed of their speaking exam date as soon as it is confirmed by Cambridge.

Cambridge B2 First (FCE) 15th March, 11th June, 22nd August, 3rd December

Cambridge C1 Advanced (CAE) 16th March* , 12th June, 23rd August, 4th December

Cambridge C2 Proficiency (CPE) 13th June, 5th December

*Please note that the March C1 Advanced (CAE) exam is on Saturday 16th March.

Application: Candidates must register at least 6 weeks before the exam. Please complete the exam entry form and return it to the school via info@ihnewcastle.com or in person.

Payment may be made over the phone, in person, or online at: https://www.ihnewcastle.com/additional-payment

Proof of English level for immigration purposes

The UK Home Office has recently amended its list of examinations that are deemed suitable as proof of English level in connection with visa and other immigration matters - Secure English Language Tests (SELTS). If you are taking examinations in the UK, you can choose from IELTS or Trinity College examination. International House is an approved centre for preparation courses for Trinity SELT (Secure English Language Tests)

Please note that IELTS examinations required to support visa applications must be taken at one of 15 designated test centres in 8 UK cities: Cambridge, Edinburgh (two centres), London (six centres), Birmingham, Manchester, Cardiff, Belfast, Portsmouth.  If you have any questions, please email info@ihnewcastle.com
